Cat Shell Ornaments
We spent our morning at our special little beach where we collected scallop and oyster shells to bring home so that we could make some really sweet cat ornaments.
Mummified Cats!
Nixie wanted to learn more about cats and one of the things we learned about were about the cats in Egypt and how they were worshipped and how they were even mummified. This fact was a bit difficult for Nixie to take in but she still wanted to make these mummified cats out of toilet roll.
Marzipan Beetles!
We've been learning about beetles so thought we'd make some edible ones and these little marzipan beetles were just the perfect little edible project. The kids absolutely loved making them!
Making 2 Kinds of Edible Trilobites
When we began learning about fossils it triggered Nixie's curiosity and she wanted to learn about all extinct animals so we began a journey through our Earth's timeline. We loved learning about the Cambrian period and she was really fascinated by Trilobites so we made some edible treats.
Learning About Fossils & Paleontology!
At the moment I have a very dinosaur-Mary Anning-obsessed little girl and fossil hunting is one of our favourite pastimesso I wanted to make this topic really fun for the kids. I made an edible chocolate cake dig site, A DIY fossil dig kit, Salt dough bones, dinosaur cookies & a shark tooth pendant and a polymer clay model of Mary Anning's Ichthyosaur and our own fossil moulds.
Pumpkin Lifecycle Experiment
Is anyone else trying out the pumpkin lifecycle experiment?!? We are on day 9 now and it's decomposing super fast! This is such a wonderful experiment to actually be able to see the full lifecycle of a pumpkin and it's not even difficult to do.
Ammonite Salt Dough Necklaces
We love heading to Charmouth for a bit of fossil hunting and we get especially excited when we find our own ammonites so we thought we should make some Ammonite necklaces.
Cactus Rocks
Our house is filled with rocks and sticks collected from our adventures and this is a great little craft to do with all those rocks lying around and it is super easy to do!
