Layers Of The Ocean Craft
Yesterday after we came in from a morning of crabbing Nixie wanted to learn more about the ocean so we spent a little time learning about which animals live in which layers of the ocean and made this Layers of the Ocean craft.
Bee Art with Potato Stamping!
We had so much fun playing with these potato stamps that Kevin so lovingly made for us. Nixie really enjoyed it and even made some Red tailed bumblebees which seems to have become her favourite.
Make Your Own Foraging Bag!
We used the ancient technique of Tataki Zome, the Japanese art of transferring botanical dyes from flowers and leaves onto fabric simply by hammering them onto the surface. This is such a fun and simple project to do with he kids and afterwards they had their very own foraging bag!
Three Of My Favourite Clover Recipes
I love making sweet treats with clover flowers and in this post I'll share three of my favourite recipes: Red Clover Lemonade, White Clover & Strawberry Cookies & Red Clover Jam.
Salt dough Starfish
Now Nixie has been wanting to learn about the ocean, I really love how home ed allows us to follow her lead and to go wherever her heart desires. A while back a fisherman had given us a starfish he found so we spent a little time learning about them and doing some related arts and crafts. Here's one of them.
Grass Heart Wand
Yesterday on our walk to our little beach in search of caterpillars we found some long grasses and were finally able to make this little heart wand. It turned out so beautifully and took almost no time at all! I am really in love with it!
It's all about the process! Spring process art.
We love spending the afternoon painting and just playing around with different techniques and supplies without worrying about the end result. Since it is Spring and flowers are blooming all around us I thought it would be fun to have a slightly Spring themed session and play with a bunch of different ways we can make flowers.
Two Recipes: Dandelion & Pear Jam and Dandelion Crisps
This was completely Nixie's idea and what a great idea it was! Pears and dandelion make the perfect combination and with the leftover leaves we made some crisps!
