Last week we started learning about constellations and decided to make some artwork with a few of them. When Nixie found out there was a constellation with her name, Phoenix she became so excited and chose that for her first project. I had some small canvases lying around which were perfect for this .

Materials we used: Canvas, Black & Blue acrylic paint, glitter, modpodge, white chalk pen, and white Femo

How we did it:
1. First she painted half her canvas in black and the other half in blue and then blended them together. Let dry.
2. Then used a brush to put a layer of modpodge over it. Sprinkle glitter. Let dry.

3. Add another layer of modpodge to set the glitter. Let dry.

4. With the white chalk pen draw your constellation of choice.

5. Make little studs out of Femo and bake in oven for suggested time and temp.

6. Glue them on with modpdge where the stars would be on your constellation and let dry! And then your finished!

With our next one we wanted to use Nixie's & Forrest star sign of Taurus & Aquarius I really wanted to do something with LED lights and use them to light up the stars of the constellation and I couldn't have been more happy with the result!! We absolutely love how they turned out and now I just want to keep making them and Nixie she loves using it as a night light in her room, it really creates such a cosy atmosphere!

How we did it: (follow instructions 1-4 above)

5. With the end of a sharp scissor cut little holes where the stars are supposed to be

6. Now take the string of LED lights and turn your canvas over and start pushing out the little light into the holes until you have done them all.

7. Take some masking tape and tape down the strings and power supply. and your done!
